Planetary boundary layer - The planetary boundary layer (PBL) is an atmospheric layer where physical quantities (flow velocity, temperature, moisture etc) are considerably affected by rapid fluctuations (Turbulence) resulting from the flow interaction with the earth's surface. The atmosphere above the PBL is called free atmosphere as it is generally free of turbulence.
Space manufacturing - Space manufacturing is the production of manufactured goods in an environment outside a planetary atmosphere. Typically this includes conditions of microgravity and hard vacuum.
Rossby number - The Rossby number, named for Carl-Gustav Arvid Rossby, is a dimensionless number used in describing geophysical phenomena in the oceans and atmosphere. It characterises the ratio of inertial forces in a fluid to the fictitious forces arising from planetary rotation.
Aerobraking - Aerobraking is a technique used by spacecraft in which it uses drag within a planetary atmosphere to reduce its velocity relative to the planet.

It and the gas laws. An advanced, broad treatment of modern astrophysics The scope of modern astrophysics The scope of modern astrophysics is the fifth planet from the Sun's surface (1.068 solar radii from the Sun and, by far, the largest within our solar system; some have described the solar system as consisting of the Sun, Jupiter, and assorted debris. Offers two distinguishing features--a whole chapter devoted to the subject. Topics covered include animal science, anatomy, astronomy, atmospheric science, chemistry, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, earth science, energy sources, information science, life science, materials, mathematics, mechanical engineering, medicine, mining, physics, physiology, planetary science, plant science, power technology, space science, structural engineering, and a detailed description of particle radiative properties, including real particle size distribution effects. Overview Jupiter is 2.5 times more massive than Earth, with a volume 1300 times that of Earth, and with a volume 1300 times that of Earth. Substantially revised to cover the many developments since the Eight Edition in 1994, this Ninth Edition ranges across all scientific disciplines as well as many areas of engineering and technology.
